Hello,
I've got a 78 244 DL and it has no idle when it is warm - I was told this is usually the injector seals, so I've replaced them, but not much of a change - car is fine during warm up, but once it gets to temperature, throw in the clutch and dead. Any suggestions?

Carby or kjet?

kjet
Slowbrick
78 will be the early Kjet so no egr which is good for troubleshooting.
Checked all vacuum lines? Kjet is very particular about vacuum leaks.
When you start it cold do you get a nice fast idle that steps down slowly as it gets warmer?
Will it rev at all when warm with throttle or will it die regardless?
When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get an idea of whats going on.

I'd guess the idle speed needs to come up & the aux air valve needs to be backed off but like already stated more info is key.

Leaks anywhere make Kjet run like crap.
Some of the hoses go hard and crack which will do it.
The aux air valve can die which will do it. Could just need tweaking.
My old '78 was a sweet thing, but didnt' idle well until I fiddled with it, swapped a few new hoses in and swapped another aux air valve on. Then I could walk out with it covered in frost, hit the key without touching the throttle and it would start within 5 secs of cranking and smoothly idle right up to warm...K Jet works beautifully when set up right!

Are you bringing that one up on Sunday? Could have a fiddle with it and raid my K Jet parts stash perhaps...

Guys, thanks for this - the car has a good idle when started - I would describe it as healthy. Then when it gets up to temperature it gradually dies - fire the car up again and it runs fine - just if you let the rev's die down it will stop. So if I was driving it you would hardly notice until you had to stop the car, say at a traffic light. So it is not a sudden death kind of thing between gears, more a gradual die - I think @volvodriverman is probably right - bring the idle up and have a fiddle with the air valve - I'll also check the vac hoses @slowbrick and have a look at the flame trap for blockage.

@carnut1100 I'll be in the range rover as my 78 is at this stage my unregistered play thing!

Rangie.....kewl!!!

Fault is more than likely the control pressure regulator CPR.
If the car is worth it a new one is a good idea, otherwise some members will have a few spare to try.
I can provide guidance if your a bit technical.

Should have one somewhere...

Yup, sitting here making a list for my next visit...

Thinking of the same part...good if you could hook up a fuel pressure tester which bolts on to the fuel reg and do the measurements....
Tassie6er
I think that is my next toy to purchase - a fuel pressure tester that is!
