SirNemesis
Guys,
I'm looking at buying a car to replace a couple of my cars that just generally aren't practical for me anymore. After a wagon, ideally not FWD with a bit of power and decent luxuries (leather, Bluetooth phone / media streaming, etc.). I've come across the Volvo V70 T6 AWD which looks pretty good.
Just after some feedback.
Does anyone have one of these and how do you rate it?
Any weird / expensive common issues these cars have?
How's the power?
What options are there for modifications?
Thanks!

I think Mark Iceton has one?

@egads parted with one a little while back

Had 4 in the past 12 months they sell quick and we bought the above car, can be heavy on fuel
egads
Solid cars apart from maybe being on the heavy side on fuel. In the same ballpark as any other 220kw heavy wagon thing though.
Mods are slowly starting to turn up but there wasn't too much when I had mine a year-ish back but you don't really need anything for it. They are a really well sorted car out of the box and the power can be anything you want it to be with it adapting and everything. They launch spectacularly and 4 wheel powrslides are amazingly easy to control in them. 10/10 would bang again given a bit more richness.

Statesman getting 8l/100 not good enough? :p
Heino has had his one from new. He would be a good source for owner problems.
Modifications? It's a fwd Based volvo. Chip and that's about it. They make decent decent stock and if you want to modify it... Better to just get another ls powered Holden Calais...
SirNemesis
Cheers guys, I think I better test drive one and see if it fits.
VQ, the Statesman economy is fine but I need more boot space. I'd replace it with a VE2 CalaisV wagon, but the missus already has a VE2 CalaisV Redline sedan, and I don't really want to near-identical cars in the garage.

On the XC70 and 3.2s we are seeing rear diff issues, we have not done a T6 yet, we have replaced electronic brake unit as these fail as well. No need for a cam belt as the engine is chain driven, they are great cars, but dont expect cheap repairs when they go wrong
Vee_Que
So the statesman is for sale?
SirNemesis
For the right price anything is for sale. I'm thinking about keeping the engine for down the track, might put a stock one in it and sell it off.

Get the 240 done With that motor :p
A d5 v70 has enough power with excellent economy. But the early t6 models have the upgrade brakes and upgrade suspension too. Iirc only the 08' model.
SirNemesis
D5 doesn't tickle my fancy.
The goal with the 240's is a 10 second pass with fuck all money spent. If I put a $20k engine in it this early that kind of defeats the purpose, but it might end up in the 240 later on.
Vee_Que
Oh. Thought it was because there were low funds Like the rest of us. :/
SirNemesis
Funds are low, which makes a low budget build sound logical. Disposable income disappeared after mortgage and family came along. $20k engine builds are just a memory now lol
Philia_Bear
Do you need big wagon or will a sedan do?
I did post up a unicorn a few weeks ago which would fit you bill
The motor in it will easily make 350+whp for very little money
Vee_Que
How do you do that Mike?
egads
Polestar is not far off that.
iceton1975
My old V70R manual which I sold on friday was 350hp at the fly, running 20 psi boost and 500nm, also the wifes S60R which is on ebay does the same figures 0-100 in under 5.5
Vee_Que
The little effort bit doesn't add up. Heinos car made 160kws at the wheels. Supposedly was kicking down under full power though. So to gain 130+kw isn't that feasible with a tune.
