Hello folks,
Apologies if what follows is a bit convoluted...
We have a 1999 V70 wagon. The V70 came with steel rims but a friend at a wreckers spotted one with factory alloys, tipped me off, so I bought these and fitted them to the car.
I bought the car a brand new set of 5 195/60R15 Michelin tyres for the when we bought it, but the alloy rims came with a four practically new 195/65R15 Michelins as well. The V70 doesn't love the higher profile, it's the 10 valve motor and is labouring a bit, so I am have been meaning to get the rubber swapped between rims at some stage.
Meanwhile, we had given our 740GLE wagon to my sister in Melbourne. She was told by her mechanic that she needs new tyres, so I figured I will give her the 195/65R15s, since they are the right size. BUT, it occured to me that the steel rims from the V70 are in excellent condition, so a part of the rubber swap I could get the 195/65R15s fitted and balanced on the V70 rims and give her the whole lot.
So, my question is, are the steel rims from the 1999 V70 going to fit the 1989 740 GLE wagon? It's a bit of a long drive from Adelaide to Melbourne to check.

Offset is massively different at 25mm
Tires are fine
No go on the rims

Ah right, thank you.
In that case, there will be a set of four very good steel rims suitable for a 1999 V70 free to a good home in Adelaide very soon.
I assume nobody will want them?

I want them but they are too far away for me. :(

Small consolation, but you'd be amazed how often something I need is in QLD.

Hmmm... I need an old French car to be delivered from Melbourne to Adelaide next month... perhaps I should check them out? :^)

I dont know about cars...ye need a specialty car carrier = $$ , better to tow it yourself...
My sister is selling a Citroen D wagon...

Is that a D, or a DS? Those old things were lovely, but I'd not like to be trying to keep one going now.

Not that big a deal if you are happy to work on it and be patient.

I certainly did a bit of that. Classic car, but I'll never forget trying to replace one of the little injector hoses tucked under the head. 1 hose = 1 day of work. 6 hoses? Or 4? Can't remember now.

DS with a later motor. As in any car , parts can be had easily and cheap if you look.

From memory the parts were not such a problem as the access. Just so fiddly. My memories of that period of my life consist a lot of wishing I had smaller hands. Now and then I would do some work on my sister's HQ Kingswood and the access was just so good. I used to sit inside the engine bay to do the timing and plugs.
