Hi, I'm not sure where to start this discussion so I have put in "General". My apologies if it is not the right place.
I met @Rob (?) at the GLT technical day and he pointed me to this forum (thank you Rob) find out information and other various bits and pieces about my son's 960.
As I'm his driver (and carer) I would like to know, for safety reasons, if it is possible to (and I have seen something similar elsewhere but I can't find now) convert the radios' tape deck to a usb/bluetooth/handsfree portal(?). Rob mentioned that there maybe someone in S.A. that is or has been doing things like this.
he also that there was another member who is the "guru" when it comes to 960's.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Graeme.

Welcome Graeme.
I have a YATOUR adapter that goes in back of volvo radio , got on ChinaBay , Alibaba , look it up , $30 orso del.
You can plug usb , mini stereo , flash card into it and connect a bluetooth unit.
BTs can be had cheap in same stores as above , do it all yerself!
Do you need a radio? SC 815?
I have an SC 811.
A CD stacker for it.
You buy adapter for Yatour thingo to go in CD port of mine , sc815 may have more but dont expect so. The sc821 is tape deck too.

@Rob should have something.

I have radios. Know nothing about these usb/sd things though. I have been given the info many times but have never followed it up.

Search for Grom by car model & year, on ebay. $160 - $200. Excellent European product.

Hi all,
Thanks Snoopy.
We have the radio and stacker and both are working fine. My son is a stickler for originality and he wants to keep the stacker in use. I will have a look at the Yatour stuff.
Thanks Rob.
I have spoken Volvo Australia and they gave me a bit more info about the car and its history and that will be followed up. Apparently it was originally sold through South City Motors at Cooparoo here in Brisbane. May have had Mr Skeerups' magic fingerprints on it first. :-)
By the way Rob, how do you attach a photo to a post? I want put a photo of that bonnet in my other post.
Thanks for the Grom info SPT940.
I had a quick look at the Grom stuff once before and, from that, it looks as though it removes the stacker functionality but I will follow it up further.
About the centre armrest cup holder. Be careful with those things. They have a mind of their own.
Some months ago the one in our car seemed to have jammed shut so I thought that would be another part that would have to be sourced from somewhere. Then last weekend we went for a run up the Sunshine Coast and, to my stunned amazement, the wife just pulls it straight out with no problems at all. Must be a woman thing. It's no wonder we tend to give these cantankerous beasts a female name!
Once again, thank to all for your help,
Cheers,
Graeme

I thought for a minute about putting the stacker in my car but , well , who uses CDs anymore?
Having the yatouror grom plugged in there , the unit hidden and a media player plugged into it , or a flash card with music you have much more starage than 5? CDs.

Welcome Scruff, good to see another 960 driver on here.
I left the 10CD stacker in my green 960 (Olga) as I thought it was best to keep it's originality. It was fitted with a bluetooth device that connected to the radio, so you could use your phone as a music source.
My gold 960 (Sofia) had already been modified with an aftermarket radio but it has a phone/media player connection on it, rather than a USB.
My gold 740 (Inga) has been modified with aftermarket too but it has a USB socket. Now I just keep 3 USBs in the car with hundreds of tracks on them.

I just looked at Grom , is it really 150 US$??
Looks like functions are same as Yatour for $30 odd delivered !

@GraemeC‌ you have 2 options.
1. Read this -
https://ozvolvo.org/discussion/728/guide-how-to-post-images-to-oz-volvo
2. if you donate to the forum (on your right) you can upload directly to the forum.
:)

Hi Rob,
I donated yesterday. Maybe James hasn't had the chance to update things yet.
I'll wait 'til later on in the week..
Thanks for that.
Where do you think the best place overseas for parts might be?
Cheers,
Graeme
Rob
I will give him a nudge.

There's a list in the thread about Volvo parts/spares at the top of the General forum.
I mostly use FCP Groton for my o/s parts.
