The tired old redblock in my '88 245 has spat the head gasket and I'm getting ready to swap a '95 B230FB in.
I've got the parts to change to block mount distributor and I'd reuse the old manifolds but I was wondering if there were any other things I'd need to be aware of. Plugs or sensors that I'd need to drill and tap into the '95 block or head? I didn't have a good look before I took it out to the engine reconditioning place.
Thanks.
Rob
There are half a dozen people here who have done this
i know nothing about it.

The only different sensor would be the knock sensor.

Great project - the bracket positions of the accessories PS, AC, Alternator could well be different, but Volvo would have kept all the mounting holes so you can still bolt up your former 88 parts.
You'll get very close, maybe just a couple of little things to resolve, eg. dizzy setup change related.

I managed to get the old engine out during the week but one of the sensors in the head is broken. It's a 2-pin green one screwed in just above the plastic flame trap under the intake manifold. On FCP Euro it looks like the temp sensor but I'm not sure. Any suggestions for where to get a replacement?

Yep, is temp sensor GingerNinj....
Make sure you get the correct colour, blue or black depending on which LH management you are going to run!

Do you know which one is for LH2.2? I bought a black one from the local Volvo parts place but I don't think there was a choice.

There is aslo green and brown depending on a few things
Important question is whats the part number for the one you got?
GingerNinja
The old broken one was green but I'll check the part numbers.
