I got these rear axle length figures from a Redwood Chair post a while ago -
140 = 1416mm
240 = 1383mm
(& JFTR)
1800 E/ES = 1253 mm
The 240 setup has a similar problem with the bushes that perform the same function in its different layout.
BNE Dynamics used to sell a spherical bearing setup for 240s which replaced the rearward lower control arm bush.
Stiff bushes work fine when the wheel movement is only up and down evenly on each side, but when one wheel goes into full bump and the wheel on the other side goes into full droop, there's going to be a lot of stress placed on both of those bushes. Especially if they've been replaced with solid ones, when the factory setup had voids in those bushes. So the BNE solution of replacing those bushes with a spherical bearing seems like a brilliant idea, since those bushes really need to twist in order to do their job properly.
Unfortunately BNE never offered a similar option for 140s, so the opportunity is there for a creative genius to make some.
