Yes I tried as soon as I received your response.
As I indicated the key has to be pushed in and then it electrically locks into the receptacle before the starter button will operate.
Normally they just click and lock instantly although this one is lazy and I have to hold the key pushed in for a second or so before it locks in. If I push it in too quickly it does not engage in the lock properly and it rejects the key.
The same when I push the start button and stop the engine. I then have to push on the key and wait until it releases from the lock before I am able to withdraw the key where when operating correctly it would instantly click and release the key.
