Hi all. Selling my 1985 Volvo 240GL in fantastic condition. Cool cruiser, versatile and very dependable. Selling as I no longer have the time to drive and play with it. Have owned for about 4 years. Two previous owners both in the 80's (never went through the awkward p-plater phase). Always garaged and well maintained. The interior is fantastic and as a result of garaging the plastics are pretty much all intact. Seats are also in great condition.
Paint and panel is just incredible, except for the left front guard that has been bumped into something in the past.
Has 338,XXXkms but that's nothing for a redblock right?...
One of my favorite things about this car- NO RUST. Having owned a few old cars in the past I was really over dealing with rust and swore never to buy anything else with rust and actively try to prevent any opportunities for rust- I've only driven the 240 in the rain once and I thoroughly dry it after washing.
Work undertaken in my ownership:
- new brake master cylinder
- rear trailing arm bushings
- Draco wheels
- engine and trans mounts
- trans fluid, diff oil
- outer and inner rack ends, boots
- shock absorbers and king springs in front
- spark plugs
- fuel filter
- pannhard bushes
- NOS rear mudflaps
- general servicing
Just prior to my ownership it had a new water pump, timing belt and assessory belts.
Only downsides are:
-slight weep from water pump- have only had to top up once a year or so and never seen the temp gauge go over halfway. A new one will come with the car.
-powersteering leak. Not too bad but top up fluid every 6 months
-other small oil leaks
-rear end clunk every now and then from worn rubber bushings- do have set of replacement bushes that will come with car.
-passenger size front quarter panel damage. Have considered repair but it's not that noticable
-front and rear bumpers have the typical wear of a 37 year old car
-aircon needs regassing
-3 gauge pod installed with volt meter, water temp and volt meter but I've only connected the volt meter. Comes with extra economy gauge and cubby hole
Also comes with original 14inch alloy wheels. Currently on draco 15 inch wheels with newish tyres, including a new tyre on the spare.
