Hi there!
I am about to rebuild my 1996 850R and almost done with it. Before I put the engine I wanted to ask for some educated opinions.
I will fit an oil catch can with a 50 micrometer filter. I have plugged-off the 2 oil ports where usually the Volvo breather bottle sits. A hose will go straight from the top crankcase ventilation hose to the catch can and then from the catch can to the ptc (and from there a smaller one to the intake manifold) The 2 ports in the engine block are oy for the oil to come back to the engine so I don't expect any issues and the micron-filter will do a far better job than the Volvo breather bottle. I ve done this with my X5 and the oil which I catch in that can will be waste oil. I don't want this oil back in the engine. It looks pretty sh.....y...
In the photo you can see the 2 copper plugs I pressed on the 2 oil ports. They are a tight fit and will not come off.
What do you think?
