Its been a while since I done anything to my Volvo 240 81 Auto, had some issues in the past with the car not wanting to rev past 2k revs. I have changed the timing belt and the distributor and with some help of photos I am quite certain that the timing belt is installed correctly but there still seems to be an issue with the timing/firing. The other day I had an idea and I took the clips of the distributor off and turned it slightly to the left and when i started the car up and pulled the throttle it seems to have improved, not perfect but it’s better so I am guessing it might have been in the wrong position.
Now to my trouble at hand, when I sit in the drivers seat and accelerate using the pedal it seems to hesitate or not want to rev as easy as if I’m manually turning the throttle.
I tried to tighten the cable a little which improved the slack but instead makes the throttle not wanna go back down completely.
So here is a couple of questions:
How can I calibrate this?
Does the throttle parts need cleaning/lube/degreasing?
Anyone know of a video/guide explaining this?
Also as I was in the process of doing this I noticed a broken hose.
Can someone let me know what it is and what it does?
The car is old and I have very little knowledge so sorry for the poor wording and the potentially stupid questions.
