I've not found any major issues searching online and I considered this a reasonable sign given these engines have been in vehicles since 2013, and SPA vehicle architecture since 2015.
It seems on par or better than other Euro's, and to be free of FoMoCO rubbish components. Time will tell.
I expect start stop systems will be a common weak point in current vehicles with this system as they age. In my case it's too aggressive to the point of doubling the number of start stop cycles (stutters to stop then restart and stop) when pulling up to a gentle stop. I habitually disable now and have it listed as an issue at my next service which is due - it wasn't resolved by a software update. My experience with these systems in other makes is they don't do this.
Otherwise no issues in 18 months - a few quirks but no bugs / faults. If you're only doing short trips you wont appreciate how good the seats really are (really noticeable when travelling more than 4hrs). 5 yr warranty and lowered servicing costs make it a better option than it was. Compared to a Toy-undai it will be more expensive on average to run but its also not one.
Keeping any new car beyond 5yrs / 100,000km is not without some risk given there complexity and major repair costs.
Definitely petrol for shorter trips.
Shop around and take an extended drive or two. Whirlpool has a thread on recent pricing & deals.
