El Wifeo's 91 244GLE's auto has started being unpleasant.
Symptoms are: Holds onto gears too long, especially at light throttle; doesn't go into overdrive at all; disengages entirely when you lift off the throttle.
Overall, it feels like it could be low on fluid, but there's plenty of fluid and it is clean (slightly dirty, but quite good for used fluid). It also engages nicely from a standing start.
Car is stock, has mostly been used around town since it was registered in November.
My loathing for automatic transmissions means that I am inclined to do nothing, but it can't be left like this. Is this a realistic repair for a competent back-yarder? Or should I replace it?
