Phil142S Hi Guys, I'm needing some feed back in regards to direction with choosing control arm bushes. the car is driven 80% on Melbourne roads and 20% aggressively.would you suggest standard or polyurethane?
Phil142S The top need changing eventually, however I'm likely to change top and bottom at the same time? 142 - 1972 thanks
Major Ledfoot Polyurethane. Upper, lower, the sway bar link rods, and the sway bar to chassis mounts. And while you're changing the lower bushes, it's a good time to inspect the condition of the weld on the sway bar brackets for each lower wishbone.
Roinik For general driving the upper rubber is ok. Lowers are better solid, however the original bushes are offset and are generally ok for everyday use, provided they don't receive hard knocks. I have 6 original style bushes avail that I'm not going to use. 25 years ago PU bushes weren't much chop. I don't know how the latest ones go in a 140. PU will transmit more noise and vibration too.
