Hey guys, yesterday I finally broke into the game and purchased my first Volvo. I did a deal on a registered and roadworthy 1988 Volvo 240 GL (Tangy Green). It's needs the usual fixing up and TLC. I'm going to book it in to GLT this week for it's first major assessment and service.
After a very smooth 2 hour drive from Warwick, I was left stranded on a busy Milton Road moments away from my house. I was at a set of lights and decided to fiddle with the non-working A/C and I pressed the front-demister button. Then all of a sudden all the dash light lit-up red and the engine shut down.
I called RACQ to get it towed and while I was on the phone I gave it one more go by turning the demister off and was able to get the car running again. When I made it back home I pressed the front-demister button and again the engine shut down.
So at least I know what's causing it and how to fix it. Obviously some of the electronics are short-circuiting the engine which is bizarre. Other than that, the brakes are very spongy but everything else seems to be working okay. Does anyone know what's going on? Is it anything to be worried about in terms of $$?
