In the course of my Volvo's restoration/refurbishment. I will be removing the windscreen, carpets, seats, lamps, front bumper, all the door trim, door seals etc. Am toying with the idea of painting the car a different colour, something fresh and nice and more adventurous but still Volvo 240 like a nice red, orange or blue. Was thinking of buying the equipment and doing the job myself. What thinks everyone ?

If you read up and buy the correct air compressor, and can prep the body right. Go for it. What experiehae have you had before with cars? Not that it stops you doing this but more asking out of interest. You will spend about $700 for a good compressor with a larger tank that will paint well and on a gun. James could advise better though.

To be honest I have never really had much luck painting but have also not really used proper techniques and equipment. I think I can prep the body, which is actually quite good so there is not much work there. The hardest thing will be to clean in the engine bay and under the hood and around the hinges. everything else seems fairly accessible.

Rubbing back just enough to buy destroy the factory coatings and making it all level is a time consuming job ive found. Especially by hand. It's why my 122 is still untouched.
