FYI, your tanks are probably pre-1974 rather than 1973. My 1973 142 is definitely the old style. And out of interest, the earlier cars (which I think are those with the ribbon speedos) have a different resistance sender with a correspondingly smaller hole in the tank. This means that you can’t swap a 1968 tank into a 1973 142 (even though it fits perfectly) and expect the gauge to work. Ask me how I know...
Thanks for the info. Yes, typo I should have said pre-74, not pre-73. I'll correct that. Pics below for reference. I didn't note any visible difference in the senders, but I will be sure to keep the correct one with the tanks.
The carby 72 tank. Part number visible stamped in top half of tank.
The FI 73 tank. This tank has an extra bracket welded to the side with the rubber mounts for the fuel pump. One mount is sheared off. Also pic of the sender and tank filter screen from 73 tank.
