So after fitting of the new motor all is fine and dandy except I think the Alt has packed up.
No getting a strong change when at idle or above and only just made it home this eve.
Things ive read and checked so far.
good earthall terminals and wires have continuity as far as I can tell. (Tested with multimeter)Battery was fully charged when driving commenced a fortnight ago
Im running an e fan and have noticed the voltage drop when the fan was kicking in before fitting the fan controller. Wiring is definitely correct for the new controller.
I dont think I need a higher amp alternator but do you think its worth doing ‘while Im at it’ to future proof it. Or is adding a larger alt going to result in buying a larger battery etc?
Im happy to rebuild the Original unit and stick with that for now unless the alt has now died because of the hard life it had with the full speed fan trying to cool down a +T with a blocked rad and overall poor engine causing excess heat etc and really needed the extra amps.
The proform variable speed controller barely draws more than 8 amp even after a good pull to cool it down now its got a proper rad fwiw.
