2008 P3 3.2 Petrol
Earlier this week, my Volvo got caught in a flood in Newcastle. The water level rose to over the headlights and totally inundated the cabin. After removing as much as the water as I could (with a paper cup), I managed to get it started, and then drove it home to Sydney.
Along the way, I could not stop the seat belt warning beeper from sounding, I would get occasional and temporary "brake failure" warnings on the dash, and the SRS airbag warning is now permanently on.
Additionally the radio does not work, the electric seat doesn't move, the carpets are still soggy, and my bum gets wet .
The NRMA (and a local shop) have assessed it and advised me that it is a total write off.
However, it seems to me that I could bring it home, and set about drying it out and then working through the electrics by spraying contact cleaner on all the connections and/or replacing sensors as it becomes necessary.
It seems like such a waste to scrap yard this car when it was only fresh water
What would you guys do?
