My 2009 XC90 stopped in traffic with diesel gushing out of the fuel filter housing in front of the rear right wheel. I had it towed it to a garage in Sydney, who reckoned the filter canister wasn't screwed up tight enough (it hadn't been removed in the last year to my knowledge). So they put it back together with a new filter and away I went. 300 km down the road, in Canberra, the problem recurred. Towed it home this time. I took the filter canister off and found that the plastic base into which the canister screws has a huge crack around the threaded part - about half of its circumference. So it's clear that needs to be replaced. Anyone had experience with it? It looks beyond my skills to do at home, but I'd be interested to know if anyone has found it's easier than it looks. Otherwise I'll obviously have to have it towed again. Thanks.
