I have a 1993 940 that I'm piecing together at the moment.
I have a complete A/C system I removed from a 1991 940 Turbo, so it had the older style, narrow radiator and intercooler setup that was closer to the 7 series than the later 9 series gear from 1992 onwards.
I'm fitting the 1992+ wide radiator w/ efan as well as an alloy intercooler to suit as I wanted the extra surface area from those later units. I haven't mocked up the A/C yet, my guess is that most likely I'm going to have issues with mounting the condenser at the very least, and I'd be better off trying to source all of the bits for the later setup.
I'd probably source a condenser brand new, already have a new accum/dryer unit (hopefully that'll fit...) and the rest second-hand, but I'm wondering:
- Are the compressors the same regardless of era and did the fittings just change?
- Are there any other interchangable parts from the A/C systems?
- Anything else I need to consider? Do I just need to get everything from the later 940 to make it fit with the later rad/intercooler combo?
