Hi I have an XC70 around 2002 and last 12 months the transmission has been pretty bad. It was OK for about thirty minutes and then the gear changes in 1-2 and 3 went off with a bang. To get around this I then drove around in winter mode which worked kind of OK. I planned to simply drive it till it stopped and then send it off to Volvo heaven. The cost of a new transmission is ridiculous.
But
Recently it started to also drive really rough all the time, a little like it had lost a piston. Also lost power and limped along a little, but gear changes were as usual. have noticed that the rough driving persists even in neutral and park. My question is this:
Could this be something simple and new like a fouled plug or arcing leads OR is this the end game for the transmission. I would have thought that if it was only a transmission problem the car would not sound rough in N and D??
Thanks in advance
Milan
