Hi all,
My friend recently bought a 2009 v70 with the 6 cylinder turbo engine, automatic gearbox and awd.
Whilst the car generally goes fine, there is drivetrain sound that seems to be to come from the rear at speeds of about 50km/h and over and seems to be worse on deceleration. Tyres reasonably new.
From what I can see online, rear differential pinion bearings are known to be problematic with these cars and give symptoms like this, but I suppose it could also be a wheel bearing or the rear driveshaft.
- Is there any easy way of diagnosing whether it is a diff problem or something else?
-if this does need diff work, can anyone recommend anywhere around Newcastle/Sydney that would do this kind of work, ideally somewhere specialising in volvo or with a history of experience with them? Most places I've asked about things like this in the past would rather just do easy oil changes and indicator fluid topups than take on any serious work so it's surprisingly hard to find somewhere both competent and capable.
Cheers
