Have a new XC90 Inscription with some wood trim inserts in the dash and the doors. It feels like real wood and all references to it is just "wood" so I'm assuming it's real.
As I often park the car in the Aussie sun and heat I was wondering if anyone has treated their wood trim in anyway to prevent it cracking and fading. It doesn't appear to be coated in anything like lacquer.
Thanks in advance!

Nice car!
Welcome!
I'd imagine it being fake, they haven't done wood in cars since Jaguars...

The Inscription came with open grain north american walnut, being open grain there aren't many products that are suitable for protecting it, it's important not to let water stay on it since it can absorb into it and cause discolouring.

There ypu go, it is real! Kool.
They must have done an infusion of protection to the timber for warranty purpose at least.
Linseed oil is best and smells nice. Try a little in inconspicuous area. It could be applied every month or after a couple of cleans?

I do a bit of antique resto from time to time and what most in the trade use to my knowledge is the products produced by Howards. The contact and info from the experts is Howard Products Australia. 33 Griffin Ave. Tamworth . NSW 2340. INFO LINE 1800672646. www.howardproducts.com.au. They sell a wide range all made in the U.S.A so priced accordingly if you know what I mean. Good luck.
