1993 sedan.Pulled too hard on the button -driver's seat and it came away and left me locked in holding 6" brass rod with the button on top.The car has central locking and I thought the driver's door could be released by winding down the window and pulling handle on the outside.Did not work.I need to climb over the passenger side seat to get in and out.Any suggestions?Expect to see car on the for sale category soon!

The rod has pulled out of the top of the central locking switch, which is part of the rod. It may be possible to glue it back in, but otherwise you are up for another rod/switch assembly.
The door should still unlock using the key.
I may have one spare, but won't have a chance to check until next week some time.
