Looking at selling this 265 since I have too may projects and I don't really want to part it out.
1982 265GLE, Light blue with tan leather interior, B28E V6 with BW55 3 speed auto, 191479Ks.
The story I was told is that it was from a deceased estate in little river, where it had been sitting in a shed for a long time, apparently it was taken off the road due to an electrical issue.
The good
Very rare car
Very little rust or dents in the body
Genuine roof rack
Low Ks
All GLE/V6 options, power windows, power mirrors, alloy trims on door tops, leather seats, velour door cards.
The bad
Tail gate needs replacing
Body needs cosmetic work, headlights, trims etc.
Hole in rear seat
The body is probably the best part, the only rust in the shell is at the right C pillar and some very small amounts around the roof rack. There's a hole and some dents on the tail gate, and some minor dents on the front left guard. There's no rust in the usual 2 series wagon areas, the insides of the rear quarter windows, below the tailgate, sills, below the front widescreen, wheel wells etc are all totally rust free. The paint looks decent but it's rough in places, the clear is starting to come off in one area of the roof. It has a genuine roof rack which is worth quite a bit on it's own. One bonnet hinge isn't original and sits high, but the bonnet isn't bent and is rust free. It has all the black V6 specific trims on the top edges of the doors in good condition. The wheels are 80s GL wheels since the previous owner replaced the V6 alloys.
The interior has survived pretty well but it isn't amazing. The front seats don't have any rips or major damage, the rear base is tidy but the back appears to be animal damaged. Both front door pockets are perfect.
It was last registered in 1999, the engine turns over fine but there's bad corrosion in the water pump so I imagine the engine is also corroded. brakes work but I haven't had a good look at their condition.
I have lots of parts I can supply with the car, I have a near complete '85 245 manual parts car, the complete B230E/M46 conversion kit would be available, making it very easy to convert it to a 4cyl manual. I have some extra body trims, a grill, a smaller steering wheel, a bonnet hinge, I might also access to a rust free tail gate. I would probably also sell it for the same price with the engine removed, if someone wanted to do an engine swap.
It would be an ideal car to restore with some sort of engine swap, I would keep it for myself if I could, my parents had one very similar to this and I always liked them but I already have two other 260s. They never sold many 265s after '81 and very few seem to survive. I don't really want to part it out, mostly due to rarity, but I will consider it if there isn't much interest in it.
Asking $̶1̶5̶0̶0̶ $1300 as is, PM me to discuss offers or extra parts.
