Hi - so pulled the dizzie and all good there - the bottom connector all intact.
Went on to pull the timing gear cover and then started to dig the fibre remnants out - the fibre gear had shredded about a 1/3rd of its teeth. Definitely a replacement, so going down the engine out, head off (hardened seats for ULP), check bores (maybe rings and bearings depending on measurements/findings) and then all back together with new gaskets all round (will help to clear a few oil leaks as well). So all in all, while not ideal, a rebuild isn't too much hassle.
