Hi all,
My 850R manual has had a rattle under load since I bought it years ago. It's annoyed me to no end and I have looked everywhere I can to locate it, checking heat shields, replacing engine mounts, getting a new exhaust (well actually I sorta used the potential of a bad cat converter causing the rattle to justify to myself a new turbo back system, but still...).
Anyway, I now have reason to believe it comes from the gearbox/clutch area. This is documented in another thread, but what I'm after is a recommendation from someone who has had good experience with a shop in Newcastle/Sydney that has done gearbox/clutch work on old volvos. I'd prefer a volvo specialist who has done this before.
I'd imagine it'd involve separating the bell housing and gearbox to check out whether it's something in the bell housing (clutch spring broken or something), and potentially sorting the issue if it lies within the gearbox.
As much as I try to do things myself there seems to be a lot of stuff to realign properly etc after this, and walkthroughs tend to mention a lot of special tools I don't have so am thinking it might be one for the pros.
