Hi Paul - further to my comments, here's some pics and clarification. Note this is a 79 244 seat. I don't think they changed too much over the years but there were some improvements.
First - the base structure is slightly different on passenger vs. driver seat, so it's not a matter of simply unbolting the sliders to swap seats. This is due to the design of how the height adjuster works (manual via bolts on passenger side vs. levers with moving pins on driver side). On the driver's side seat, there are some extra flanges welded or formed in the seat base side panels where the vertical slots are to allow for a bolt with spacer for the up/down adjustment.
Second, unless you peel back the seatback upholstery to expose the 3 bolts (shown below), you would have to remove the back angle adjuster knob and shaft to swap the knob from one side to the other. I didn't remove the angle adjust knob when I did the EV - all I did was swap upholstery on the seat back and swap around the lumbar adjuster knob to match the hole in the upholstery.
Here's a pic of the 3 bolts that were loose and/or missing on my car, where the seat back frame is attached to the back angle adjuster mechanism:
Here's a couple pics showing the 2 bolts on each side that hold the angle adjuster and seatback frame to the seat base frame side panels, along with the corresponding threaded holes in the seatback frame:
Here's a couple pics of how I pop the angle adjuster knob centre cover off with a pointer tool (or you could use a small screwdriver):
And finally, to remove the angle adjust knob, you need to rotate the knob relative to the metal clip, so that the 3 tangs on the clip slide relative to the knob and allow the knob to pop off. The metal clip stays on the shaft. The clip is one of those one-way press-on type clips and may be quite difficult to get off the end of the shaft.
It's a toss-up whether you remove the upholstery from a good seat and swap it onto your existing frame (using your foam or the donor foam), or try to use the donor frame and swap bits about. I think the seatback is easy to swap but the bottom frame gets a bit tricky given the height adjuster/non-adjuster differences. Fortunately the cushion upholstery is a lot easier to remove than the seatback upholstery. Good luck!
