Ex850R I bet Iceton is getting it, in hoot competition with Swedish Wreckers, note SW pay too much for auction stuff to win cos they charge like wounded bulls for bits. Sad to hear, what damage?
dmm Thanks @Kwan for the heads up I'm considering this as a donor car for wifey's 2006 XC90 2.5T - 145k km on the clock and going strong but various bits are fatigued and failing. We want to keep the car indefinitely so prepared to spend more on it rather than unfavourable resale/upgrade outlay. And more towing grunt (mostly trailering other cars) would be handy. I've heard of a few B8444S transplants into T5 and T6 cars but apparently a fair bit of work swapping over the electrics and other V8 specific bits. Thoughts? Don't need the wheels, panels or most of the interior so could split that with someone else on here if theres interest
ToomanyVolvos What concerns me is that the tranny was rebuilt and it's only done 140K! Having owned around 30 Volvo's I'm yet to ever have a failed transmission on any Volvo or other car (not counting my Saab 900 manual). Yes it happens, but even a neglected tranny with no fluid changes should do 200k, and a looked after one two or three times that? Is this transmission inherently weak like the GM in the T6 (prior to a HD rebuild, I hear)?
KWAN From what I gathered from researching into the history of the car, it did some heavy trailering from ACT to Sydney and from Sydney to Melbourne without servicing the transmission. It then ended up at a wholesaler, and you would be none the wiser until you drive it for awhile. From the international forums, generally post 2007 transmissions had bad valve bodies. If you google it you'll find a registery of serial numbers and people reporting their problems.
