Yep, unfortunately that's a problem with airbag wheels...Volvo probably states in the owner's manual that the airbags are only good for 10 years or something...given how old the cars are, unless you really want to keep the old airbag, you could possibly put a non-airbag wheel on the car. Of course it could be a legal issue, but since the 240 was available without the airbag and I don't think they changed anything between airbag and non-airbag cars for AUS, you could just get rid of it. If you were to do that, you'd need to swap out the cast metal bracket on the end of the steering column that the stalks bolt to as the horn ring setup is different on airbag vs non-airbag cars. Then you can fit an aftermarket wheel using a Volvo 240-specific steering wheel boss such as the Momo 9010.
