Hey Gang, My buddy kindly picked up a 240 for me interstate and I am making plans to bring it home in Jan. It has been noted the brakes will be firm and stop the car, but then whilst stopped the pedal goes soft. I assume air in lines, moisture in old fluid or worn MC. I will take an MC with me as a precaution but see that prices differ significantly from Say.... IPD USA, to Repco or even Ebay. Has anyone sourced a new MC locally? Can some provide and approx AU$ Street price and supplier suggestions?? Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Are you fixing it yourself? I bought a second hand MC for $40, and $20 of brake fluid later it was all sweet.

I had that problem once, turned out to be a failing MC. I bought an Ate one from RockAuto and it has been good ever since.

If it has a brake booster fitted I would check that first, check for a vacuum leak in the hose that goes to the booster. The diaphragm can fail as well.

I second RockAuto. Just bought some rebuilt front calipers for a 240 and they arrived quick and only about $150AUD including shipping for the pair.
