Hello,
So I've got a reco B23E head and I'm thinking of banging it on a B21E motor over Christmas - I can't think of any reason why this will be a problem - any thoughts?

The heads are pretty much the same, the cams may be different. The casting numbers of the head can be seen between #2 and #3 exhaust ports, e.g 1000398. The popular reference to heads uses the last 3 numbers of this sequence, so that example would be referred to as a 398 head.

It will work fine, and depending on which B23E head it is there may be a slight increase in performance.
The original head for a B21E is a 160 with D cam. For a B23E from a GT it's a 405 with H cam, from an '81-'83 240 it's a 405 with K cam, and from an '84 240 it's a 398 with an A cam.

@Angus242164 & @bgpzfm142 thanks gents - it is a 405 with a K cam, so I'll keep you posted!

I run a 405 with a K cam on my B21E, it's great.
