Straya2611 Only bought this a few days ago for parts for my 940, but before I part it out just wondering if anyone would be interested in swapping it for a complete M46/M47 Conversion or $800 to cover a manual conversion for my 940. Has 331,000km’s on it. Car does of course have a few problems with it - Leak in fuel return line - Water pump or coolant line leading to water pump has a leak - Sounds like it has a misfire at idle - Drivers side door trim needs replacing - Turbo makes a whine when on boost - Turbo flutters, id guess an issue with the wastegate - Paint peeling over body on boot and roof
Major Ledfoot 1985 B230s have the centre thrust crank with small bearings and skinny rods, and biodegradable wiring. They are not as robust as the B23 or the later K-block B230 with bigger bearings and rear thrust, and are on the bench long before the L-block B230 with 13mm rods, rear thrust, and big bearings even works up a sweat. Without looking it up, IIRC the ET had Motronic and a Garret T3, but I may be wrong.
Angus242164 They are still pretty much impossible to kill, I abused mine for many years and it still ran well and made good power when I removed it, at 500,000km. They're the least durable of a family of engines that's more durable than the majority of other engines out there. Motronic 1.1 and Garrett T3 on 760T's is correct.
Angus242164 Mine had pistons that rocked around in the bores quite a bit, and more than once people asked me if there was any oil in the engine, because the piston slap was so loud at idle! It just kept on going though, and the piston slap was barely any louder at 500k than it was when I bought it at 280k.
