Last night I installed the bronze shifter bushing kit made by STS Machining. Man what a difference that makes, the shifter is just perfect now. If anything it's a little too snug, but I imagine with a few weeks' use the bushings will bed in a bit.

@jamesinc I'd heard that they didn't make that much difference, your experience is obviously different but do you think the cost is worth it?
Do make the shift smoother at all or is it just tighter?

Well, it's hard to say. You have to consider that I was replacing very worn bushings. Comparing it to my 244 with M46 and shifter bushings in good condition, it's definitely still a tighter feel even than that. I imagine these brass inserts can probably endure more violent shifting than the plastic ones too.

Have also sourced a replacement fuel tank via @hengamp, that's some good peace of mind I'm pretty sure this one is still contaminating the fuel a bit

Installed new tie rod ends. Did up the strut top nuts because apparently I am some kind of moron who doesn't do these things. For the record I installed the shocks like a year ago

I don't have a short shifter. I was going to make one but I need to buy a ball turning jig for the lathe first

I haven't heard/seen many good things about that unit. I just purchased the original Sellholm version and waiting to install it in the next couple of weeks. Will provide an update about my experiences when I do.

The main issue as I understand it is that the AliExpress guy is bad at fulfilling orders?

I've heard and it matches with the pictures that the Aliexpress one is straight where as for a stock 240 (in not sure about others) the shaft needs to have a bend in it.

If you want a short shifter James and want the cheap option just cut the shaft under the ball and weld in an extra bit of metal to extend it.

Yeah. That and the quality of the unit itself is pretty poor. There's a TB thread about it somewhere

I started deleting unneeded wiring, and at the same time I thought I'd like to keep the stereo for now to stave off boredom on the long drives I'll be doing between Sydney and Canberra.

Looking at the headunit, only the front speakers worked, and they played the rear channel and in mono. So I deleted all the weird wiring, soldered and joined everything and deleted the wiring for the factory amp. Now I have four working speakers and am down a few hundred grams of wire.

The power mirrors weren't working properly. They moved slowly and the left side only operated in one axis (and the switch was 90 degrees off)

Aside from the windscreen all the remaining parts I need are on their way - headlight reflectors, clutch/brake pedal rubber, clutch slave, and a couple other bits and pieces

Put in some poly bushings. Also, not pictured, I replaced the clutch slave and an alternator bushing that was making the belt squeal.

Clutch pedal works nice now and no more leaks woo! I tore down the old slave and it looks good, just needs new seals I expect.
