Wagon booked for a bluey next Wednesday at DJ Borg Automotive. This weekend I need to tack the block-off bolts for the rear seats, and put a set screw through the shifter knob so it stops popping off.

I'd REALLY LIKE TO KNOW why this thing still idles like a piece of shit and occasionally stalls out, but I don't think it's actually a blue slip requirement that the car idles happily so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I will try disconnecting the exhaust, I just want to rule out something silly like a clogged cat. It does smell a bit sulphuric, so it's a maybe, and the wagon makes a touch less power than I would expect (butt dyno).

Wheel alignment done. Really well too! Level steering wheel, no left/right bias.

Car is in for blue slip now. Went over the changes with the guy and he didn't seem phased by any of them, so it'll come down to brakes and bushings I suppose

I took the wagon for a run down old pac yesterday.

It is low on power compared to other NA B230s I've driven, but it does drive fine at higher RPM. At low RPM/idle/feathered throttle, it runs poorly. I'm now getting a 2-1-4 code on the EZK diagnostic port, which means "RPM sensor signal absent intermittently".

Given all the work I had to do to make the RPM sensor align with the drilled flywheel (it was drilled incorrectly), I'm just going to start there and put an OE LH-2.4 flywheel in, which @Philia_Bear has lent me.

From Sydney Clutch & Brake Exchange on Epsom Road in Zetland. Nice to deal with and they turned it around in a couple hours. Also they're only 5 minutes' walk from Green Square so I just brought the flywheel with me on the train on my way to work. Easy. Heavy though!

I swapped the wagon's stock 563 ECU with a 951 and the miss is still there but it idles way better. 9xx superiority confirmed.

The 951 didn't want to cold start at all (like not even sputter) so I put the 563 back in. I started the flywheel swap last night but aborted because I wanted to do it out in my driveway where I have side access, so I'll come back to it on Saturday.

I think I killed my enthusiasm for tinkering because of it. Too many freezing nights with a big 500 watt halogen light at my back...

Thanks bloke! I've been researching head torches, I'll get that. Good for shut down jobs, put one on hard hat, get another for non hard hat work.
My cheap ebay led pocket torch is put to the slightly larger Led Lenser ones they issue here, I'm yet to convince the engineer we need to swap.....
