James, the places we have checked seem to be booked out already. We may have to either pick another location for the event or pick another location to stay at and drive to Gerringong each day. A place like Nowra is a bit bigger and not a seaside holiday destination.

Our problem is that time of the year anywhere on the coast may be booked solid. Maybe somewhere away from the coast such as Bowral?

Inland is good. School holidays will make for busier traditional holiday places.

Cunnamulla is the geographically fair place though (if you ignore Perth).

Hmm, 9+ hours of driving from my place to the Nowra area, but I could easily do the trip on one tank of fuel if I took the Astra, might be a possibility.

The Saturday meet-up and BBQ will still be at Gerringong. The preferred accommodation will be Bomaderry. They're about 20 minutes drive from each other.

I e-mailed a couple of motels about group rates. Will post outcomes in the next day.

Sounds like a plan, I was going to suggest something like that; meet at the beach, but stay somewhere a bit quieter/easier to book/cheaper.

Even in Nowra it's a bit stiff though. We'll have to book soon. They might say no to group rates on the grounds that they'll book out either way.

We've stayed at the Pleasant Way Motel (Best Western) in Nowra before and it was OK. Right across the way from a steakhouse and the Information Centre.

Having just had the weekend we had up here in Armidale I'd make the following comments (bearing in mind I work at a caravan park...)
-Chance of a group discount in the holidays is minimal; it's when the money is really made to support the rest of the year
-More than one event might be on at a time (We had the NSW Association of car clubs up here, so had a whole clubs staying with AND 30 mountain biking families/couples, so had very little space left on the park)
-Inland might be quieter, but everyone thinks the same, It will be cheaper than the Coast though...
-Get in touch with the local visitor info centres and have a yarn with them about what is on in their areas; that can explain why they're full, and may help to find both something interesting and somewhere with some space.

Why not book accomodation in Wollongong? Then we can drive to Gerringong/Bowral/Berrima etc anyway, they're close together.
