ramrod If I’m not mistaken, those engines are of the interference type which means damage will occur if the timing belt is broken

I've had one that was and one that was not a member of the bent valves club
only way to tell is to do the cam belt and test using a compression gauge / leakdown gauge or using a really small bore scope
removing the pressure pump from the "back" (pass side) of the engine is the only way to use the special tool needed to set the cam to its special place (also gotta set the crank)
the special place is NOT TDC which makes everything more of a PITA than it needs but... thanks Volvo
